Also called “the jewel of the Pacific”, Valparaiso is the second largest city in Chile. Located approximately 120km of the capital, the city center features cobbled streets and some unique architecture. All the tourist attractions in the city are located along these alleyways. Nestled between the sea and the coastal mountain range, Valparaiso is one of the main seaports of Chile.

The colonial city of Valparaiso presents an excellent example of late19th-century architectural development in Latin America. Immortalized by Pablo Neruda in his poetries, Valparaiso was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. After Neruda won the Nobel Prize for literature, he became one of the most eminent celebrities of Chile. All his homes have been changed into some famous museums. The city is also home to a Naval Museum that documents Chile’s history and today is a port of call for cruise ships.
